Activism

The tide of public opinion is changing. Many people are now recognizing cannabis as a legitimate medicine, but some are still skeptical. With your help we can dispel myths, educate opponents, and reframe the debate. We know your time is valuable, but by signing up for just an hour of activism at Elemental, you will contribute greatly to positive change in our community.

What is Activism?

Peaceful activism consists of efforts to promote and direct social and political change through non-violent efforts. At our Activist Station, you’ll have your choice of projects that are aimed at educating the public and our lawmakers; writing letters to politicians, calling newspapers and industry leaders, and even sending a word of support to the many incarcerated medical cannabis patients who have been unjustly vilified. In addition, there are special projects like election campaigns, community outreach efforts, charitable events, or even cannabis expos that we occasionally seek volunteers for. We always love when our members get involved and work alongside us!.

What skills are required?

It is often assumed you need to know your politics or be an industry insider to volunteer as an Activist. In fact, often the opposite is true. Real people speaking in regular words can be much more persuasive to the general public, than an erudite, waxing wise. The only skills you need to help out at our Activist Station is basic proficiency in reading and writing, and the ability to donate an hour of your free time. What will surprise you is that while using our resources, you’ll find yourself becoming more informed, more passionate, and more confident at speaking your mind. In our Activist Station, you can read up on the latest breaking news, browse activist bios and stories, and educate yourself on the science of medical cannabis. The more you know, the better you’ll be at speaking up for all of us! It is often assumed you need to know your politics or be an industry insider to volunteer as an Activist. How it works

Activism is temporarily suspended. Check back soon for updates. .

For every hour you volunteer at Elemental, we will give you a free gift. Feel free to ask for details on the gift when you come in to volunteer.

The Activist Station is open 7 days a week from 10am-7pm. You can schedule one hour of “paid” volunteer time at the Activist Station every 7 days. We encourage you to schedule additional hours during that same week, but these will be “unpaid”. Call or stop by our Member Services Counter to schedule your volunteer time. .

On the day of your scheduled activism, please check in about 5 minutes early. If you are running late, just give us a call. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we will happily reschedule you for a more convenient time. After you check in, the Member Services team will give you an orientation on how everything works, and then provide you with some options of projects to work on! After that, you are ready to get started!.

At the end of your Activism hour, please check out at Member Services, and give them your project materials. If you have written letters, we will mail these out for you. If you have written to a local politician, we will hand deliver these. Member Services will then give you a coupon for a free gift to redeem at the Consultant counter. .

Thank you for helping us lead the charge and continue our efforts to provide safe access to all patients!.
